2008 04 19 - Glass Blowing and Etching Demos
2008 04 19 - Glass Blowing and Etching Demos

Glass blowing demo and etching demo by Frank Rossbach and Nancy Philbrick on May 17th from 1pm to 4 or 5pm.
Phil Hall and Krassi Gatev will be here as well!

The Rossbachs have been blowing glass for over 300 years. Maybe he'll let you try it out! The "Hog in a Hog" is by Frank.
And Nancy Philbrick does not trace her designs, or use resist to create her etchings. She uses a dremel and many different bits to etch freehand!

This exhibit is themed as a tribute to "American Graffitti" day on May 17th in downtown Petaluma.

Offered in this exhibit:

Classic Car Photography Artworks by Philip Hall.

Art Glass ~ Sculptures, Wall Hangings and Tables by
Krassi Gatev, Nancy Philbrick, Michelle Knox, Frank Rossbach, Kathleen George, and gallery owners, Lyndon Pullins and Vangie Pullins.

Exhibit Only ~ Antique Pedal Cars from the collection of Mike Gerke, owner of Mike's Glass on Washington Street in Petaluma.

Aurora Gallery is pleased to present an outstanding print collection for exhibition and sale. The collection spans the print media history by including engravings, poster, etching, lithograph, woodblock and multiple-color aquatint.
It ranges from Wellstood's engraving of a lost George Inness to the contemporary work of Russian River's Inya Laskowski.  The important work of Nathan Oliveira 's "White Owl" and Billy Al Bengston's "Manana Corrida", both from the Tamarind Institute of New Mexico are included and represent important modern movements in California Art.  Christy's "Clear the Way", an important World War I Poster for Selling Bonds and supporting the War was posed for by Marion Davies, a silent movie star and one of the founders of United Artists.  It is said she was an intimate of both Charlie Chaplin and Randolph Hearst. Included also are the revolutionary prints of the young Americans who originated in South America: Jesus Romero from Mexico to Oakland, and Victor Cartagena from El Salvador to San Francisco. The viewer will find many pleasant surprises from the popular LeRoy Neiman to the Japanese woodblock printer Kawase Hasui.

A wonderful collection of Hans Skalagard's oils of ships are available for viewing, soon to be offered for sale via our website.

Enjoy the show.
